The Highs and Lows
Across our lives, we all experience moments of great celebration and intense pain.
You remember the day you marry, the day your first child is born, your graduation day, and your children’s graduations, landing the perfect job, getting that promotion, moving to your dream home, or the day your medical tests are cleared.
These moments create intense feelings of connection, gratitude, and love.
You also remember the days your life changes with drastic pain: the day a loved one dies, the moment you discover your partner has been unfaithful, the night your house catches on fire, the appointment when you are told your child is ill, or the call from the school to say that your child is really struggling and there needs to be a meeting.
Painful moments come crashing, sometimes with a warning and sometimes without notice.
There’s an ebb and flow to those experiences and our capacity to hold the balance.
When that balance tips more into the pain, we experience a flood of confusing emotions, get stuck under the weight of it all, and start to think that nothing can change for the better.
You deserve to feel loved and have a place of belonging.
When you enter the counseling room with me, you will feel accepted, cared for, and understood. I view this invitation into your life as a privilege.
By helping to identify and process the pain you are experiencing, we’ll bring both healing and acceptance.
When you rewrite your internal beliefs about yourself and address the underlying emotions, you’ll become “unstuck.”
From there, you’ll create a life of meaning and belonging. I’ll be there to help.
It is an honor to walk this part of the journey with you.
I believe in the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship and the power of connection in facilitating healing for one’s past, health in one’s present, and hope for one’s future.
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor with a specialty in marriage, couples, and family counseling. I am SATP certified and understand the pain of partner betrayal and infidelity for both the individual engaging in the behavior and the partner who has experienced the betrayal.
As a registered play therapist, I enjoy engaging in the natural language of play with children while providing a safe environment for healing and change. I am AUTplay certified (autism spectrum disorder) and enjoy working with children and special needs parents.
For people who have experienced trauma, I utilize both EMDR and AEDP therapies.
Take your first step toward change.
I know how difficult it can be to take that first step toward change.
I know that if you take one small step every day, you will have 30 steps by the end of the month and 365 steps by the end of the year.
The first step is powerful! Reach out, and we’ll take the second step together.
Outside of the Office
When I am not in the office, you can find me with my husband and adult sons. I like to do just about anything with them. I love traveling with my family and creating memories. I enjoy laughing, talking and being with others, especially over great food. On warm days I like to walk my dog; on cold ones, I like to hug my dog. I treasure time, especially with the people and pets I love.
Together We Can!
Let’s get started with that first step today. Give me a call.
